Pork Intestines?!? -- Peter Chang

One of my favorite restaurants in the Williamsburg has to be Peter Chang. Peter Chang is a Chinese food chain restaurant, specializing in dishes from the Sichuan province. Sichuan is well known for a type of spicy called mala, which can be translated into hot and numbing. The spicy flavor of mala is quite distinctive, with the Sichuan peppercorn and chili pepper meshing together to create a unique numbing sensation on the tongue. While Peter Chang is a chain restaurant with many American-Chinese dishes, it offers a wide array of chef's special that are much more authentic, making Peter Chang a great location for authentic Chinese in the heart of Williamsburg!
Take a look at this beautiful dish! While many may not recognize it, the dish consists of red pepper, jalapeño, onion, and pork intestines. Pork intestines deliver a very special taste. It is both chewy and tender, combining together for a perfect meat. While it is a unique meat, I recommend everyone to try it; it mixed well with the rice complimentary with the dish. Titled sautéed pork intestines at Peter Chang, the dish was $17. Furthermore, the portions for the dish was surprisingly good: most restaurants overload on vegetables with sparse amounts of pork intestines sprinkled throughout.

I highly recommend the authentic food available at Peter Chang. While many restaurants can create American Chinese food, not many can create a unique and intricate dish like pork intestines. That is what I call value! However, I must say the service at the restaurant was not stellar, with wide gaps between ordering, water refills, and grabbing the check when the waitress was not present. My raving for pork intestines will be limitless, but I have also tried some of the other offerings at the restaurant. Many of the chef's specials and "grandmother's home-style cooking" offer a wide array of delicious Sichuan flavor. Take a look below!
